2021 Sunday Six Competition
We’re all set to go for the next instalment of our annual Sunday Six competition. I’m working away in the background trying to secure some sponsorship and prizes but in the meantime I am leaving the page as it is to show any potential sponsors what their involvement might look like.
For those looking to get involved this year please check out the rules below and I look forward to receiving your team in due course. Cheers
Well, well, well, year 7 of our Sunday Six competition and we have another amazing prize for our 2020 entrants to battle over. I am extremely pleased to announce that the Palacio Hotel Estoril Golf & Spa will offer our Sunday Six champion a 2 night stay at their luxurious 5 star resort with 2 rounds of golf on the Estoril Championship Course. Shuttle to the golf course will be included as well as access to the sumptuous Banyan Tree Spa. As usual I will throw in £200 towards the flights for the winning player.
The Hotel Palácio Estoril is one of Europe’s great hotels which has been enchanting successive generations of guests from the four corners of the globe since 1930. Now, in the 21st century, the Palácio is still grand but at the same time is a completely renovated, up-to-date hotel with modern facilities that manages to be welcoming and cosy despite its grandeur.
Located in the heart of Estoril, just 20 minutes from the centre of Lisbon, the Palácio is a five star hotel set in beautiful gardens and with outstanding views over Estoril and the Bay of Cascais.
The Estoril Championship Course started in 1929 and redesigned in 1936 by Mackenzie Ross. It is known as one of the oldest and most emblematic clubs in Portugal and has played host to the Portuguese Open on no less than 20 occasions. Overlooking Estoril and the sea, this 5200-meter-long course is set amongst eucalyptus, mimosas and pine trees giving a uniquely colorful touch that demands excellent tactics, challenges in accuracy rather than distance.
The visually stunning par 3 holes although they vary in length all pose particular challenges; the 4th hole. The Peppers Hole surrounded by pepper trees; the 8th hole The Tea Cup – is well known due to the always challenging flag position.
Just imagine, you and a friend could be teeing off here in the summer of 2021 if you nail the best winning team following the rules below.
Tournament Format
- Pick a team of six players you think will perform best on the 2021 European Tour.
- An imaginary £10 e/w bet will be placed on each of your players each time they appear on the European Tour.
- If any of your players finish in the top 6, their imaginary winnings will be added to your team total, and for simplicity, all ties for places will be settled at the full odds.
- The winner will be determined by the player with the best average return based on their total winnings divided by their total player appearances.
- Double odds will be offered for the Majors and the World Championship Golf events.
- You have 6 transfers which can be used at anytime.
- All teams must consist of active European Tour members and each team must play in a minimum of 75 tournaments combined.
- All entrants agree, through participation, to be contacted for marketing purposes by our sponsors.
You can pick any player you like but of course you have to weigh up whether to go with a big gun who will do well in the main events like the majors and the WGCs or a journeyman pro who will tee it up in over 30 tournaments and pick up a steady return? And of course the tricky decision of when to make your six transfers?
To enter , send an email to winners@tipandwin.co.uk or a DM to @tipandwin with a note of your team name, players, and your contact email address. All transfers should be notified via the same format before the next tournament tees off. Last year’s top 10 below will give you an idea of how this looks.
